Sylvia Antalis Goldsmith is the founder of the Law Office of Sylvia A. Goldsmith. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate degrees from the Ohio State University and has been a licensed member of the Ohio State Bar since 1995.
Goldsmith’s practice focuses on consumer protection under a variety of state and federal laws including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Truth in Lending Act, and the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act. She is licensed to practice law in all courts in the State of Ohio, as well as the United States Supreme Court and the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas.
In 2000, she was one of only nine consumer lawyers nationwide to be invited to attend President Clinton’s Summit on Theft of Identity in Washington, D.C., and has testified before the Federal Trade Commission and the Social Security Administration on identity theft and fraudulent criminal record information.
Goldsmith regularly is invited to lecture to groups such as the National Association of Consumer Advocates, the National Consumer Law Center, the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the Practicing Law Institute with respect to financial privacy issues and other concerns relating to the fair and accurate reporting of consumer information.

From 2001 through 2006, Goldsmith also served as the Contributing Editor for the State of Ohio on the American Bar Association’s Class Action survey which is published annually as part of the leading treatise on class action litigation, Newberg on Class Actions.
Geoff McCarrell, Esq.
Geoff McCarrell has been an associate with the Law Office of Sylvia A. Goldsmith since 2011. He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law where he assisted consumers as a student-attorney and certified mediator in Case’s Civil Litigation Clinic. McCarrell received a Bachelors of Arts degree from Amherst College.
McCarrell is admitted to practice before all Ohio state courts, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
McCarrell focuses his practice on consumer protection and litigation in the areas of fair debt collection and credit reporting, bankruptcy discharge and automatic stay violations, and unfair and deceptive consumer sales practices. He has litigated claims arising under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act and other state consumer protection statutes, and the United States Bankruptcy Code.
In 2010, McCarrell served as an intern for the Office of the Prosecutor for the Special Court for Sierra Leone in the Hague, Netherlands in the Charles Taylor trial. Following graduation from law school, McCarrell worked as an attorney for the housing law division of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.
McCarrell is a Cleveland native and graduate of University School.
